Red In A Blue State

It's a drag living in MD sometimes. Your vote can count (if you are conservative) if you live in one of about 5 counties, but aside from that, you might as well hang it up.

A prime example. MD passed over Michael Steele - a tremendously talented, bright, young African-American politician for U.S. Senate - because he is a Republican. This in a favor of one of the "old guard" of MD politics - Ben Cardin. These things make one ashamed of one's state.

So, the only way I feel that those of us who feel strongly about the direction of our country on a national level can contribute is by chiming in on a national level. Through blogs, comments on articles, calling in to talk shows, etc. Pointing out inequities in coverage, issues that are ignored and the ugly underbelly of candidates that is overlooked by the mainstream media.
